St.Emilion France

St.Emilion - it gives good wine and is darn purty...!

St.Emilion France - August 2015

St.Emilion, France - Nikon D810 + Nikon 50mm F/1.8G

About an hour from Bordeaux is the not far off the cutest village in the world...St.Emilion is one of the most famous wine regions in the world and is darn picturesque to boot...!
Being a  UNSECO World Heritage site and very famous for it's wine means it is swarming with tourists but that adds to the fun in some ways and creates a real buzz in the place that would otherwise be a sleepy village in rural France.

The whole village is surrounded by vineyards which is quite a sight and really let's you know that this is a working village and not just a tourist attraction.

The Cloisters in the church at St.Emilion

This shot is taken with the Samyang 14mm F/2.8 - it is very good and very cheap! I got it because it scored very highly in the DXO tests and was intrigued by it -  I've been very very impressed with it's qualities, it stays in the bag!

If ever you get a chance to check out St.Emilion do...for photography it's great and with Sterling so strong against the Euro even the inflated tourist prices don't hurt!

Nikon 20mm 1.8G...the quality!

Is the Nikon 20mm 1.8G the first pro wide lens to be made with a D810 or something similar in mind?

These are HDR but the quality does seem amazing! I hear on various forums that lenses weren't designed for a 36mp sensor but is this the first?

Shooting the Fjords of Norway..

The Fjords of Norway...All taken with the Nikon D810 and various lenses and shot at Innvik and the surrounding area :)

French Graffiti

French graffiti has to be some of the best in the world...! So much imagination and colour, sometimes I print and frame images of graffiti and they look fantastic...the first two images are from La Rochelle in The Bay of Biscay and the last from Paris next to Centre Pompidou. All taken on the definition king, Sigma DP1 Merrill. Check out the full gallery at: http://www.mattcooperphotography.co.uk/Portfolio/Paris

Street Photography...Sigma DP1 Merrill

Street photography with the Sigma DP1 Merrill - it's a bit of a pig to use but the quality of the images is outstanding!!

Ally Pally HDR - testing Sony NEX 6

Can the Sony create a decent HDR? well here are a few test images using the Sony NEX 6 and my 20mm Nikon prime. I like how easy and light weight it is to use and being able to select 2 or 3 stops in bracketing is great...is it as good as the D800? I doubt it but the images do have a different quality about them that's quite nice...more to follow :)
